The music was good but I don't think i'll ever go to another outdoor concert after that. I probably would have been comfortable had I been wearing mukluks, a toque and long underwear. MAN it was cold!

Could someone refresh my memory. I assumed that there was an operating contract for the venue that was part of the overall joint partnership.

I am a bit concerned that the original concept is not what we have now.

I know! My teeth were chattering, my son's knees were knocking.
Of course we paid to 'meet and greet', and the band had to thaw out for 1/2 hour to be able to use a pen. LOL
I have to give them credit for pulling that show off.

^ Thanks VHF. So to quote the following from your link

"Rights to Operate the Facility - RG Properties will pay the City $1.1 million in advance and the remaining $900,000 upon substantial completion of the building, for the right to operate the facility during the first 10-year term. In years 11 through 30, RG Properties will make an annual payment of $200,000 (indexed to match inflation) to the City for the right to continue to operate the facility."

Perhaps RG owes the city $900K or more if the previous post by Spanky is correct.

I'm trying to wrap my head around this.
Do we know if the initial $1.1 was paid? How does the city get paid?
How many years has it been 'substantially completed'?

My understanding is that RG asked the City to defer about $1M of the operating costs for 5 years. The City agreed to do so. Whether they ever paid anything I don't know, but the City is showing about $1.3M as outstanding as of Dec 31st 2009.

I also recall there being an issue over the fees the City was supposed to be receiving for each ticket sold to an event. The City agreed to accept lower payments then originally contracted (for at least some of the initial events). Whether this was ever resolved either I dont' know. The City was recording revenue from the arena seperately on its income statements for the first two years and then stopped.

This seems pretty cool. NO FEE tickets from Rogers only, thru your cell phone, part of their agreement with LiveNation.

http://tickets.urmusic.ca/

No paper ticket at all, they scan your cellphone text message picture/barcode as you enter. You bought two tickets, you show one cellphone, and enter with your date. Sell the tickets to someone? Email them the picture and they now have the "ticket" on their phone....

Works for upcoming Victoria concerts too like Ozzy and that dog whisperer guy? Can you believe that guy does big arena shows? Christ, it's not like Seigfried and Roy, he ain't taming a tiger out there, it's a dog!

Ozzy - that's great! Anyone have a pre-sale code for Ozzy?

This show is great for Victoria and saves the trip to the Mainland. We need more of these shows. It has been better since the opening of SOFC though!

No pre-sale code for OZZY yet that I can find

But Salmon King Season Ticket holders had first dibs at buying them, so I wish select your tickets would tell us how many tickets are available Saturday morning for sale???

That dog show of his must be pretty popular because I too was amazed to see him coming to Save-On.

Rogers/LiveNation must have figured out some way to make your original e-mail "ticket" null and void because otherwise people would just sell their e-mail ticket to someone while still being able to go to the show themselves. If that haven't figured out a way to do that they are in for a very expensive lesson.

I'm on the Select Your Tickets e-mail list yet concerts are often announced before I get an e-mail from them if I find out from them at all yet I was under the impression that getting on their e-mail list ensured first notification.

Am I going to Ozzy? Hells yes.

I'm so glad I'm into more obscure tastes in music.
I couldn't imagine paying over 50 dollars to see any performance.

I was walking past the Royal Theatre one evening and I could see Chris Isaak in the lobby signing autographs for all the fans that attended his concert. I didn't see anyone collecting $1,000, though.

Does Ozzy even put on a decent concert? I see him on TV and he's shuffling around like he's 100 years old and mumbles so much you need subtitles to figure out what he's saying.
