Same thing with the beer festival. Sold out in 8 minutes but days before the show people were trying to just get their money back.

I talked to a guy at the ticket window at Save-On and he said it sold out in 15-20 minutes so the thing I don't get is why two shows weren't planned for Victoria since the other venues he's playing at on this tour at are at least twice the size of Save-On. I saw one ad on UsedVic for two floor seats for a grand, so I laughed and thought, boy that person is really optimistic and grossly overestimates the average income of an Ozzy fan.

Just the difference between the two venues tells you that Ozzy is far more popular so it's a little easier to cozy up to your fans in person when you aren't overwhelmed by their numbers.

Thankfully people aren't paying to hear him speak, they are paying to hear him sing and he still seems to be able to do that. So we can expect to see you at the show then?

I think that lots of people buy tickets to try and resell them. Creates initial volume but doesn't necessarily reflect real demand.

Ya, I talked to that guy. He just did not know about the new rules (5 years old). Also, that story inadvertently says "Ticketmaster". I think it'd be nice if SYT either hired a guy to go talk to the lineup at 5am onwards, or put up a big sign talking about the random lineup policy. Oh well, he can get tickets if he really wants them.

Or doesn't have a credit card? I've never stood in line. Have always ordered online or by phone.

That guy looked like he was going to cry. You should have said to him, "buck up little slugger you can probably still get tickets".

Yeah, Select Your Tickets really needs to improve their communication because hours after the concert was sold out it still said nothing on the website about it so I sent them an e-mail.

Me confused. It sold out, right? So were there 5,000 people in line at the ticket office or were they also selling tickets online? If they were selling tickets online then why would anyone line up outside the ticket office in the first place?

If SYT has their PR team in order, they contacted this guy by his name on the news report, and made it good. He told me he recently bought a pool hall in Duncan, they should be able to find him.

Some people are old-skool, that's what this guy was. Ya, they sold them all online except for 100-persons worth of tickets to the line. I counted 188 in the line at 10am, and a little under half got cut off.

SYT should just ban ticket booth sales altogether. Or no ticket sales until the second or third day after online sales start. I understand they do not want to sell in person, it's expensive and inefficient. But it's bad PR to have people cut off like that. And yes, if you do not have a credit card you can buy a prepaid one from 7-11, register it online with your name and address, and then yes, it works just like a real credit card to order tickets.

Or set aside more tickets for those that show up in person because it seems to me that they are putting forth a little more effort than lazy fatasses like me that just tap a few buttons on their computer.

Also, I love the hyperbole courtesy of Chek. They started that story by describing the ticket sales as a "wild scene"? I didn't see or hear anything remotely resembling "wild".

So, did you get tickets VHF?

But they are trying to discourage in-person sales, and I don't blame them. If it becomes known that if you are in line you will get a ticket to a hot show, then suddenly everyone wants to line up to make sure they get a ticket, rather than risking being shut out online or on the phone.

Works against what they want to do.

Sending home 90 people on Saturday, as painful as it looks, quite frankly serves as a reminder to everyone there that you really should buy online.

I generally buy my tickets on the resale market, sometimes a bit more expensive, but you get time to pick and choose, haggle, barter and trade.

Select Your Tickets Rumour has it there will be an exciting act announced tomorrow for the SOFMC. Any guesses? Who do you want to see play here?

Well I was told Elton John was coming but an agreement couldn't be reached. So probably not it. Motley Crue? They said they were coming back.

Elton John is a good guess, I mean he played Prince George of all places. I guessed Carrie Underwood because she is in the area with dates to spare. Nickelback is another one.

First show I went to at the SOFA was Godsmack and they said they would be back, I think they all say that
Motley Crue and Def Leppard/Journey are not on the road right now so they are less likely

It sounds like a rumour is all it was.

Ozzy was awesome!
http://vibrantvictoria.ca/local-news...ace-confusion/

SOFA? Abysmal as usual!
What a gong show!
So they opened the VIP entrance to any ticket holders.
So then there's a bunch of us freaking out at the line up.
People getting pissed off.
They only have one door open and no staff outside or no sign saying you could enter showing VIP tix.
I had to barge in and ask!
Once again they had no idea how many people were showing up.
The beer line-ups were outrageous and you were cut off when Ozzy came on anyway.

OZZY was amazing! but has no one working at the SOFA been to a show in Vancouver??? Just not a smooth experience at all herding people into the building. Also that frisking is ridiculously overkill and my GF makes it a point to make snide comments to the guy frisking me each time. Could they not have several people guiding people into the three lines at the front instead of that one stupidly long line that grew. At least someone to answer questions about SOFA policies etc.

Is there any trash cans out front (No jokes about the public art out front) but I could not see one so my Timmies cup had to join the others on the ground before the festivities

If you are going to the bother to print no cameras/Recorders of the front of the tickets should you not also mention SOFAs no cigarette policy there is a lot of first timers still going to events there?

Not too sure what the Q100 was thinking? Lets broadcast live at the front of the Arena and play lame music for that hour or so? Meanwhile the guy with the Kabuki Cab was at least playing Sabbath/Ozzy etc...The Q old can-con like Edwin

Halford was a good decent opener and his voice was in fine form, but OZZY was way better than I was expecting. My GF saw him eight years ago and said the sound was way better and he was not acting like a trained seal as in the past.

It was a real enjoyable night once the show got going but the experience makes me hesitant to check out Hockey games there

Arena readies for Victoria’s highest-ever indoor event attendance
By Paul Seal, VibrantVictoria.ca
http://vibrantvictoria.ca/local-news...nt-attendence/

Just hours after the last Salmon King player leaves the ice this Saturday at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre, a 15-person team will begin a process of converting the hockey rink for what is expected to be the largest crowd for an indoor event in Victoria’s history.

American comedian and actor Dane Cook will preform stand-up comedy on Sunday night for a crowd that is anticipated to number well over 8,000. The attendance numbers will break an arena record that was only recently set at 7,260 for the Ozzy Osbourne show on November 5th. [...]
