And making sure your sheets were clean every day since they are going to be set on top of your dining table on a daily basis.

I thought you were planing to put to microwave were Bosa has the TV in the kitchen, which is not deep enough for a microwave. Perhaps I misunderstood your plans

Coming home from soccer tonight, with the sunroof open, it was great to see the crane so I could really get a sense of how big the tower will be.

I am all in favour of taller buildings in Victoria.

I wish the first Bayview tower had have been taller rather than wider.

I also wish that there were more taller buildings actually being built in the core of downtown!

Hopefully seeing the taller buildings over in VicWest will spur a little bit of competition with the core

When did the gravel lot get fenced up like that? I don't think I had noticed the fence before (are they prepping for the third Bayview tower?).

The fence has been there since February. You can see it under construction in my picture from Feb. 18. Part of it was removed to allow traffic to be detoured through the gravel lot while the crane was being erected.

So now we know why they cut that opening to Esquimalt Road. From the second picture it looks like they are just parking their trucks in the East bound lane and diverting traffic onto the center median. Maybe that's not such a big deal since traffic is already crawling going into downtown in the mornings.

I can see the crane is in action lowing rebar to form what must be the bases for the parking structure support columns. Do they use the empty lot vs. the side of Saghalie Rd. as a staging area for building materials to be lifted by the tower crane? I think its jib is long enough to reach across to the empty lot.

Default Pumping from esquimalt

The opening the rock was not intentional. Worker safety and pedestrian safety dictated the unstable rock removal. The pump set up on Esquimalt will be limited to smaller pumps as two lanes of traffic need to remain at all times. So very limited use . The traffic congestion only occurred when the bridge was up.

The use of the gravel lot for material storage is prohibited. Tempory access was allowed for the crane erection and rock storage. You can see now all the materials have been removed. The crane reaches the entire lot.

The working radius is 230 feet with a capacity of 6600lbs at the tip 11000lbs at 170' and15000lbs at the mast. With the ability of going up to 27000lbs at the mast by resetting the limits.

This was the first building concrete. 44m with approximately 10950m left to go!

Thanks for the clarification Dukesmaster. From the detail in your post it sounds like you work in construction and might even be working on this project. That would be great news for this thread - a real source of expertise!

Supposedly, Bosa will be installing one. What "soon" means is anyone's guess. Pouring the first concrete footings is an "exciting construction milestone" that has already been missed.

Default More crane shots

For those who just can't get enough of the tower crane (like me), here are some more shots from Bosa's Facebook page.

The height of Promontory is truly impressive in this last shot.

I was on holidays on the north coast trail the week the crane went up. It was great to be able to look on this web site to see the progress a soon has I got to Port Hardy. I was able to tell from the date stamps my schedule was off by one day. I was sure happy to see it up though. Great pictures. I will try to post some of my own onsite photos as we progress.
