CRD Solid Waste staff will take us on an informative tour, including:

See where all your garbage goes and what we do with it!

* Landfill Gas-to-Electricity Plant

Learn about the science of landfill gas, how we're reducing greenhouse gas emissions and turning "garbage into electricity".

* Rehabilitation Site

Visit the closed section of the landfill where native trees and shrubs have been planted to help return the area into a natural eco-system.

* Recycling and Salvage Area

Find out what can be dropped off for reuse and recycling at Hartland. By practicing the 3Rs - Reduce, Reuse, Recycling - you reduce the amount of garbage that enters the landfill.

* Household Hazardous Waste Area

See how we're helping to protect the environment by accepting all types of household hazardous waste.

* Yard Waste Area

CFAX reported a motorcycle accident on Munn Rd. for the first handful of newscasts, then switched to calling it Munns Rd. later in the day. Of course, all day they said it was in Colwood, it was only Monday morning when they correctly placed it in the Highlands.

But the main problem is Munn vs. Munns.

On Google Maps it changes three or four times.

BC Assessment has listings for both.

And I believe if you drive the length of it, you'll see signs with both spellings. I think this sign at Propsect Lake Rd. says Munn.

It's already a crawl on Friday afternoons and very busy on Saturday mornings.

Seriously, the home-grown tourism industry is missing the boat, with thousands and thousands of locals heading up-Island for their recreation every weekend.

One of us asked why, and he said he gets the money right away instead of waiting 30-days.

None of us were carrying any cash and this made him very agitated. So much so that he threatened to kick us out. At that point we raised a storm and he continued on (his English wasn't good enough to put up much of a fight).
