Because VV will go to any length to bring you a down-and-dirty professionally guided tour, we have arranged for a tour of the Hartland Rd. Landfill on September 22nd, at 1:30pm.

Just for VV members, please sign up in this thread.

CRD Solid Waste staff will take us on an informative tour, including:

* Active Face

See where all your garbage goes and what we do with it!

* Landfill Gas-to-Electricity Plant

Learn about the science of landfill gas, how we're reducing greenhouse gas emissions and turning "garbage into electricity".

* Rehabilitation Site

Visit the closed section of the landfill where native trees and shrubs have been planted to help return the area into a natural eco-system.

* Recycling and Salvage Area

Find out what can be dropped off for reuse and recycling at Hartland. By practicing the 3Rs - Reduce, Reuse, Recycling - you reduce the amount of garbage that enters the landfill.
See how we're helping to protect the environment by accepting all types of household hazardous waste.

* Yard Waste Area

See where yard waste, such as leaves, branches and stumps, can be dropped off at Hartland for chipping, instead of taking up valuable space in the landfill.

It happened again yesterday.

CFAX reported a motorcycle accident on Munn Rd. for the first handful of newscasts, then switched to calling it Munns Rd. later in the day. Of course, all day they said it was in Colwood, it was only Monday morning when they correctly placed it in the Highlands.

But the main problem is Munn vs. Munns.

On Google Maps it changes three or four times.

BC Assessment has listings for both.

And I believe if you drive the length of it, you'll see signs with both spellings. I think this sign at Propsect Lake Rd. says Munn.

Another strange thing, if you look at the first Google Map, you see there is a section of Munn/Munns that is pretty much a complete circle, off Munns/Munn near the start at Prospect Lake Rd.

hey everyone, here are a few of my drawings of mine that i thought i'd share...

1.With the JSB bring replaced; i kept the same rail bridge and added new road bridge, and new multiuse trail, i redesigned the dt side to have a roundabout, and took out the S curse on the vic west side... this bridge area would be traffic calmed with an
2. upgraded Bay bridge to handle most traffic.... (notice the Rock Bay bridge); keep exsisting pt ellice bridge 2 lanes east bound, NEW north bridge for west bound
3. grade seperated interchange @ hwy 1 & admirals/mckenzie

if you have any feed back, i'd love to hear it!
Seriously, the home-grown tourism industry is missing the boat, with thousands and thousands of locals heading up-Island for their recreation every weekend.
Southbound traffic on the Malahat highway into Victoria Sunday evening slowed to a crawl, and even to a complete stop at times.

This past weekend my friends and I caught a Yellow Cab home and several moments into the ride the driver told us that we must pay him cash. One of us asked why, and he said he gets the money right away instead of waiting 30-days.

None of us were carrying any cash and this made him very agitated. So much so that he threatened to kick us out. At that point we raised a storm and he continued on (his English wasn't good enough to put up much of a fight).

Is it legal for drivers to ask for cash instead of credit card or interac payments? Can they actually boot passengers over payment options?
