Can anyone recommend a local mechanic? Finding a good, honest and affordable mechanic is not an easy thing. I'm looking for recommendations, but please don't recommend family or friends (as the mechanic would not yet be my family or friend). My car won't start, and I can't afford the GM dealership fees of $99.95/hour. Thanks in Advance. |

There's a great shop at Quadra and Finalyson, right across from Quadra Elementary School. Another is at Fernwood and Bay Street but you'll have to turn south onto Fernwood from Bay and drive down half a block. It'll be on the west side of the street. I've used both in the past and the guys there are very courteous and knowledgeable. Although the problem with not recommending family or friends is the going rate for any mechanic in town is ~$75 an hour. It'll save you $25 an hour from dealer fees but its still not cheap.

^ I know lots that absolutely trust Searles. I've used Roberges Road Ready off Douglas and I like them.

Another Searles fan. Honest and good. At the same time.
