Default Victoria Wedding Venues?

Looking for the wisdom of crowds!

I am hoping to find a large heritage house rental for a wedding party in October - not a ceremony, just the reception - for about 100 people. Anyone know where I might turn to? Is there a company that brokers house rentals? I am just looking for something a little different for a venue.

Thanks

I know Fairholme manor does weddings but not sure about one that big. There is also Royal Roads which is always cool.

^Yep, you can't go wrong there. I like the uniform too. People don't wear swords like they used to.

Isn't it possible to rent the restaurant at the Laurel Point Inn? Does the Abkhazi Gardens host receptions?

Laurel Point is a great place. Nice view from the banquet room.

Swans rents the Penthouse for weddings, it isn't a heritage house, but it is a heritage building, and the penthouse is stuffed with original art, some of which is quite 'different.' They also rent the Marquis Room which is a retired nightclub... but you loose the heritage feel completely down there. There is also St Ann's Academy chapel and Point Ellice House - not sure if they do weddings inside though.

But if you are thinking of a full heritage house that you can rent, I'm sorry I'm coming up blank

Since you're looking at October, I wonder if Dashwood Manor (at Cook & Dallas) would be a candidate? Their Bed&Breakfast tourist season should be pretty much over by then, and it's a big old house. I haven't ever heard that they do rentals like that, but maybe they'd be open to the idea?

We went for a different sort of wedding and we just asked people if they would do it. For the right price people will let you have a wedding just about anywhere.

We booked the Wild Saffron at Swans it was great.

There are a few nice places on the penninsula that book weddings, including most of the wineries.
