Now that the JSB replacement project is going ahead I figured we should have a new thread to discuss it's construction. First order of business would be to come up with a new name for the bridge as with the realignment it really can't be the Johnson Street Bridge. I like the Vic-Vic West Bridge as it gets the VV in there.  How about Harbour Bridge? First Narrows? Fortin's Folly? Old Town? Gateway? New Blue?

I think it would have to just be the Dean Fortin Bridge. We can rename it the Dean Fortin Memorial Bridge after Bob Fugger goes postal and ends up assassinating the mayor.  Should it be blue?

PS/Edit: This is not about a new bridge at all. It's all about building approaches. I see nothing funny in yet another huge mistake for this city.

I think we all cope with tragedy in different ways. I've had to almost tune out and pretend the whole JSB fiasco isn't happening and Dean Fortin isn't really mayor just to keep calm. Otherwise, I think I'd go nuts and end up chaining my self to the damn thing.

Your outrage meter must be set pretty low if jokes about the JSB get you upset... Besides, the really amusing part is that people are surprised that Dizzy Dean and his socialist bloc are willing to flush other people's money down the toilet. |
