I see Fairway hired a PR firm (Tartan) to deal with this.

Isn't this flap about closing the barn door before the horse gets in? Haven't we had this Hep A thing awhile ago with deli workers?

Send employees for regular blood tests.

Another thing is the rubber gloves. I have seen workers pull off their gloves and put them down, then go and do something, then come back after handing some door knob or something, put their gloves back on and handle food products.

I don't go back.

It seriously wouldn't surprise me. People do some strange things.

Considering how few cases of Hep A there are province wide...I can't see any employer subjecting their staff to blood tests. That would be brutal IMO.

Witnessing a deli worker reapply used gloves seems utterly bizarre!

Stanwick is too busy enforcing laws so we don't allow minors to tan and smoke within a block of life. Hep A. is minor stuff for him.

Health-unit staff believe some people in line are prospective travellers taking advantage of free vaccines - normally, each dose costs patients up to $40.

"Here we are acting in good faith and we expect the same from the public," said Marshall. "The people in line on Sunday who were potentially exposed on March 18 were given priority."

I very well may have eaten something from the deli there during those dates. Am I going to die?

Yes. All living things eventually die. Whether or not your ultimate demise is related to products purchased at Fairway is up for debate.

Very unlikely, you may get sick but again very unlikely. The odds of getting sick even if the employee handled the product you bought would require a serious of thing to have happened.

Now some fruit might be tainted.

Pomeberry Blend frozen berries are manufactured by Western Family and is distributed through Save-On-Foods and Overwaitea.

The product contains frozen pomegranate seeds, blueberries, strawberries and cherries.

As a precaution, anyone who has purchased Pomeberry Blend since November 2011 and has stored it in their refrigerator or freezer is advised to discard it.
That sounds pretty tasty.

^That does sound tasty. I would risk it.

I once spotted several cases of chocolate bars in a condo dumpster. Not the cheap-ass Easter stuff, this was the premium goods, Crunchie, Caramilk, Dairy Milk, etcetera. They had "expired" several weeks earlier but we know that because of the high sugar content, candy takes a very long time to spoil. The child in me was wetting his pants in excitement but the adult in me couldn't bear to take out the dozens of boxes. As tempting as it was, eating out of the dumpster crosses a line. Once you do that you're pretty much up for anything.

If you think those are premium...you haven't tasted real chocolate.

This thread is getting off topic. Seems unfair to Fairways to keep using a thread to discuss general health issues in store bought food in a thread with their name it. Please only use this thread for discussion of the Fairways issue. If people really want to talk about other ones than I would suggest starting a new thread.
