http://www.jackalope.ca/

Went there today on the advice of Weirdie.

EXCELLENT!

I had:

CLASSIC JACKALOPE $5.95
A fresh herbed Jackalope patty covered with crispy romaine lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle, mustard and ketchup.

And added pasta salad for an extra $1.00

My partner had:

SPICY BLACK BEAN VEGETARIAN $5.95
A spicy black bean, red pepper and white onion patty, topped with romaine lettuce, aioli mayo and a tasty slice of avocado.

She loved it too.

I went here for lunch yesterday and it was fantastic! Friendly service, tasty, cheap food, cute location. I'll be going back again for sure.

Seriously awesome, right? My co-worked went for dinner after I told her about it and she's now in love with the bean burger as well.

I was there last night & had the same items. Very tasty indeed, and the proprieter made my friend and I feel truly welcome. I will defintely be back. I hope this place can stay in business long enough to benefit from the enlargement of Odeon Alley when the (former) Mozart project goes ahead.

Had a chance to check this place out. Fantastic food at a decent price, and the server was very pleasant.

In fact at the same time I was at Jackalope the owner of Pig Barbeque popped in to order their barbeque sandwich/burger and their fries. Checking out the competition :)

Ooo this sounds good! I'm going to check it out for lunch! I've been looking for something to fill the void left by pig's over-success.

But still, you can't beat Pig's ~$5 pulled pork sandwich, still the best pulled pork in the CRD IMO.

I'd love to still go to pig, but every time I walk by there's a line out the door and nowhere to sit.

Just got back from Jackalope, very big very home-made style burgers at a reasonable price. The only bad thing I could possibly say was that there was a bit of a wait for the burgers (about 25 min). With a slight boost in their cooking speed and some improved decor (both things I'm sure will happen as time goes on) I could see this place being pretty successful, I'll certainly go again!

25 mins? Wow. My wait was about 10 mins when I stopped by.

They might have that age-old problem, if they could just have one more person from 11:45-12:45 (that would then double their kitchen staff), they could handle a bit of a push. Man, if I worked right by and had a flexible schedule, I'd come down from my office tower and help for an hour each day.

Last time I was there, the prices were up across the board, the sandwiches being at $6.50.

Guess I wasn't the only one that noticed the long cook times. When I was there it took about 20 mins for 2 burgers to come out. In fact, 2 other people ordered after us and received their food before we did.

I think with the thickness of those burgers, you don't want to wait less than 10 minutes to cook thru. They don't take them out of a drawer like Mcdonalds (not that I don't LOVE McDonalds).

^ The Pig raised all their prices when they opened in their new location so this has been in place for a long time.

You mean I've been paying $6.50 the whole time, and not realizing it? Whoa.

You should demand they install a giant sign outside indicating the price, and change it daily in relation to other eateries' prices. Then when it's the same as Foo you can call it collusion.

Unlike a gas station, they are not offering the same product. What reason would they have to post exactly the same prices?
