The City of Victoria has unleashed a new tool for Victorians keen on closely following events related to the November 20th municipal by-election. And in a city that is notorious for low voter turnout, the polls can use just about all the help they can get to encourage more residents to exercise their democratic right.

The free app, dubbed Victoria Votes 2010 and designed exclusively for Apple’s iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad mobile devices, allows users to find the nearest voting place, keep tabs on the various voting days (such as early voting for those unable to vote on November 20th), learn about the candidates, and more. Mike - Any chance you guys are working on a VV iPhone app? I find myself checking VV from my iPhone about 1/2 of the time and am wondering if my VV experience wouldn't be enhanced by an app. I realize that a forum is fairly easily presented in the iPhone's Safari browser - but I also frequent Red Flag Deals and their app makes if a lot easier on the iPhone.

Just something to think about.

We currently have a mobile version of the main portion of the site (articles, construction projects list, etc) but the forum unfortunately must remain as is until we upgrade the software and then seek out a mobile application skin (which may not apply to our needs). I too use my iPhone regularly to check the forum and while the interface is not terrible, it could be much improved.

At some point, but not immediately.

Are there major issues with VB4?

The app had sent out at least one text message today so I trust results will be "pushed" immediately upon release.
