If the Montreal torso is completely unrelated to the Ottawa hands and foot, I feel kinda badly for the Ottawa criminal. He goes to the effort of putting the foot and hands into separate containers, pays the two shipping fees, and waits for the discovery.

Then it happens, he's getting all the media attention, then BAM! a body shows up clumsily thrown into a suitcase in Montreal, and that criminal is suddenly sharing he limelight.

Bad timing.

Forensic experts are quick to make the male determination with the torso, no so fast with the foot, I guess that make sense.

I mean it's one thing to have washed up extremities on your beaches, but torsos in suitcases and packages with body parts?

Yeesh, the next thing we'll see is a naked guy attacking some other guy and chewing his face off.

Not to worry. The cops are really tough on crime in Ottawa. Heck, they're really tough on victims of crime. If being the victim of a home invasion gets you three months in jail then mailing human body parts should get at least that.

Magnotta is allegedly a former stripper and porn star with multiple websites depicting him in various photo spreads.

Sites like www.Luka-Magnotta.net also contain numerous screeds that decry the Internet rumour mill inflicting damage on his reputation.

“Many hoax websites are created using my image and name, posing as me to seem more believable in respect to the type of audience these website have, I feel I don’t need to list them specifically but people need not be told, not to believe what they read and to take it as fact,” he write in one article entitled “Cyber Stalking” beside a photo of him shirtless and reclining.

In an article on another site purporting to be an interview with Magnotta he complains about “lies” linking him romantically or even married to schoolgirl killer Karla Homolka, who was released without conditions in 2005.

Just to put that into perspective:

A police source has confirmed The Gazette that the name of the suspect in the torso case is Luka Rocco Magnotta, and police are seeking the public’s help locating him. Police will issue a media release with more information at 2:30 p.m. in hopes of seeking the public’s help to locate him.

Yeesh, there are multiple grammatical mistakes in that article.

Human foot, hand mailed in separate packages to nation's capital

The apartment smelled terrible and it appears the homicide was carried out on a bed in the small apartment. A reporter saw a mattress stained with blood Wednesday afternoon.

Residents also said police believe the torso belongs to an Asian man who is apparently missing. The police have been showing a photo of the Asian man on Wednesday.

Residents of the building said they also saw Magnotta wearing a bizarre wig days ago and that they commented on his strange appearance.

I appreciate that my statement maybe stemmed from a mindset from my chilhood...and you both are probably correct.

I dunno, maybe have to ask the victim's mom and dad that question. I know how they rehabilitate types like these in China....and it's not by spending million$ either.

Maybe we should just ship him to the victim's home town and see what happens.

In the US it costs more money to put someone to death than it does to keep them in prison for life, because of all the appeals etc. I can't see us being any less cautious in Canada, so it would likely be the same.

I could accept if a person prefers to be put to death, rather than life imprisonment, then allow suicide.
