From today's Times-Colonist, by the VP of the Business Council of BC:

"Many in the business world are apt to nod in agreement when they hear that government workers are overpaid. Yet, is the claim really true?"

Yes: GREASE. It's how many private-sector businesses treat their employees, especially those who would balk at things like basic labour regulations such as minimum wage laws. It's also the feeling one gets when hearing about the deals done in large private corporations to ensure those in the executive are shielded from their own bad decisions while forcing the lowest-end workers to shoulder all the pain. I agree, these sorts of practices are unsustainable. As history has shown, eventually the masses will once again take action against the relatively small number who hold most of the wealth and power. Can you spell REVOLUTION?

I find this commend strange - aren't you in support of spending a billion on unnecessary sewage treatment?

"Unsustainable" is someone like Bev Oda collecting a pension of $1000 per week after only eight years on the job (along with every other MP).

Help me understand what one has to do with the other. I hold a world view. The oceans are not our personal dumping grounds. However, when more is paid into public pensions than private, when there is the sort of waste and mis-management of public (our) money that is evident in our system, I am against it. Call me Scottish, but waste makes me sick.

The difference in this day and age is that those who hold the wealth and power as you put it also own the media and the news cycle. The occupy movement existing as long as the media found it novel. Start to gain momentum and it is an organization of criminals and slackers. If you think that you can use social media to make your point then think who owns that as well!

I can spell Revolution, and in fact was deeply involved in what we considered a revolution in the 60s and 70s. I organized auto workers in Detroit, was a radical left student, and generally made as much noise against war and pollution and the 'establishment' as I could. I once ran out in front of Nixon's car and almost got shot. Unions have lost their value in the world today; in fact, the power has shifted to two groups, the Unions, and the government. The rest of us poor slobs are here to pay for all of it
